Ganduje Denies Plan to Join ADC

Abdullahi Ganduje, the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has dismissed rumors suggesting he plans to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Ganduje, who resigned from his APC position on June 27, 2025, citing health reasons, labeled the reports as “fake news.”

His spokesperson, Edwin Olofu, reaffirmed Ganduje’s commitment to the APC and President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Olofu emphasized that Ganduje remains a dedicated member of the ruling party and is aligned with its policies and objectives.

The speculation about Ganduje’s potential defection had gained traction following his resignation from the APC chairmanship. However, both Ganduje and his representatives have consistently denied any intentions to leave the party.

This clarification comes amid ongoing political dynamics as Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections. Parties like the ADC are actively seeking to position themselves as viable alternatives to the APC, with notable figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar expressing support for the ADC’s presidential candidate, regardless of who emerges from the party’s primaries. Atiku has stated his intention to back the ADC’s chosen candidate, highlighting the importance of unity within the opposition.

Despite these developments, Ganduje’s recent statements underscore his continued allegiance to the APC and its leadership.
