Plateau Governor Urges Judges to Uphold Integrity and Justice

At the 2025/2026 Legal Year Ceremony held at the Plateau State High Court in Jos, Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State reminded judges of their profound responsibility in dispensing justice. He emphasized that while they hold the authority to judge others, they too will be judged by their Creator. Governor Mutfwang prayed that when their own judgment comes, they may stand before their Creator with a clear conscience.

The governor commended the Plateau judiciary for maintaining a reputation free from public scandal, noting that the judiciary had not become the subject of public discourse and opprobrium. He expressed hope that in the coming year, the justice sector in Plateau State would continue to be second to none in Nigeria.

Governor Mutfwang acknowledged the delicate nature of the judicial role, advising judges to be guided by the ethics of their calling and to use their judicial discretion judiciously, with the fear of God and wisdom. He cautioned that in the process of rescuing others, they must ensure they themselves do not become entangled.

As a member of the bar, Governor Mutfwang reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the conditions of the judiciary. He assured that all requests brought to the executive by the judiciary would be treated with utmost dispatch, within the constraints of available funding.

Addressing security challenges in the state, the governor acknowledged the ongoing issues and assured that efforts were being made to address them. He announced plans to recruit additional personnel into Operation Rainbow to augment the security situation in the state and urged citizens to provide credible intelligence to aid these efforts.

In conclusion, Governor Mutfwang called on all stakeholders to renew their commitment to the progress and development of Plateau State, emphasizing the importance of integrity and collaboration in achieving these goals.
